We aim to identify, connect, and enhance efforts to incorporate principles of sustainability (environmental, social, and economic) into all areas of the University. MOOS provides the institutional memory and knowledge, the network of partnerships, the framework for sustainability at McGill ( ), and the seed funding ( ) to facilitate the sustainability efforts of students, faculty, and staff.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

- Under the supervision of the Communications Officer, the Digital Communication Intern will help manage the MOOS digital channels (social media, website, newsletter). This includes:
- Creating, scheduling and managing content across MOOS social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and X
- Updating and maintaining website and newsletter content to ensure accuracy and engagement
- Creating content to promote sustainability programs/projects at McGill and educate our audiences about sustainability topics
- Producing short videos and reels about sustainability initiatives on campus and how to get involved
- Photographing sustainability initiatives and events to use in communications materials
- Attending and covering sustainability related events, sharing content live on social media where appropriate
- Ensuring content is published on time according to the monthly content calendar
- Building and engaging with MOOS’ online communities through interactive content and audience interaction
- Building relationships with other McGill social media account managers to cross-share content and expand our reach
- Track key performance metrics (reach, engagement, growth) and adjust content strategies accordingly
- Collaborating with the Graphic Design Intern to create illustrated, text-based posts
- Pitching content ideas and assisting in the development of monthly content calendars
- Demonstrated experience creating and managing content for social media channels (e.g. Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X).
- Demonstrated photography experience in varied lighting conditions
- Strong written communication skills, with experience writing for social media
- Working knowledge of social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, LinkedIn) features and familiarity with social media trends
- Working knowledge of social media management platforms (e.g. Hootsuite, Loomly)
- Demonstrated knowledge of digital accessibility best-practices
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Reliable, with strong organizational and time management skills
- Interest in social media marketing, and environmental and social sustainability
- Experience managing and updating website and newsletter content in a Content Management System is an asset (e.g., McGill’s Website Management System).
- Experience producing and editing videos (e.g. social media reels) is an asset.
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and groups at McGill is an asset
- Knowledge of French is an asset
