Job PurposeThe Traction Motor Lead Engineer will lead the engineering efforts of major projects in electric motor developments. The Traction Motor Lead Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of electric motors from concept to production, ensuring high quality standards throughout.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop product design proposals to meet customer specifications and test requirementsLead product development and validation activities including: DFMEA, design reviews, drawing and model creation (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), prototype builds, DV/PV testing, NVH verification, design for manufacturing, stack-ups, and key supplier developmentDevelop and maintain prototype and test validation plans (DVP&R) to meet key customer program milestonesLead and assist root cause analysis of technical issuesSupport Advanced Program Quality Planning (APQP) activitiesDevelop and support cost savings initiatives and proposalsEnsure design reviews are completed as planned to support a gated program management processProvide technical support to customers during all phases of vehicle development including pre-sourcing, vehicle validation, product validation, vehicle start of production (SOP), and post-SOPPrepare and conduct technical presentations (Customer and Dana internal)Analyze test data to verify conformance to requirements and establish action plans as neededAnalyze warranty data and develop effective counter measuresPropose and critique design concepts for cost savings initiativesUtilize the resources of the various support groups to provide an optimized design which can be manufactured economically and according to the project timing requirementsCommunicate all engineering and development issues as needed to Dana internal functions including but not limited to; Engineering Project Management, Program Management, Quality, Warranty, & Engineering ManagementBasic Qualifications :Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5 years of progressive experience in automotive or similar fieldMinimum of 3 years of progressive experience in design / development of electrification productsKnowledge of the automotive electrification sectorExcellent written, verbal and presentation skillsEffective listener and communicatorProficient technical skills Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Excel, ProjectDemonstrated ability to be proactive and forward thinkingAble to effectively interface with other disciplines in the organization to achieve resultsExcellent mechanical aptitude, along with strong analytical capabilityUnderstanding of and/or experience using CAE tools including: ABAQUS/ANSYS/FESAFEDemonstrated experience leading APQP, DVP&R, and DFMEA activitiesStrong knowledge of GD&T and ability to understand prints / stack-upsMust have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside of Dana in a professional mannerDemonstrated ability to organize multiple responsibilities and meet multiple deadlinesMust be a self-directed, motivated, and organized individual who is willing to accept responsibilityExcellent written, verbal, and presentation skillsExcellent customer relationship skillsMust be able to travel domestically and internationallyWilling and able to complete assignments on time
