- Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
- Technical Developments Recommendation: Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/applications software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users' needs.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Manage technical troubleshooting projects, ensuring effective diagnosis of technical issues with equipment and experiments and the development of effective solutions.
- Research: Achieve specific goals for a designated part of a research program. Involves working within established research systems.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Testing: Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards.
- Project Management: Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.
- Engineering Drawings: Create complex engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
- Equipment Installation: Lead major equipment rebuilds; guide planned installation of complex systems.
- Process Design Engineering: Analyze information and specify the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.
- Engineering Solutions Design: Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
- Installation Monitoring and Control: Operate highly complex installation systems, devices, machinery and complete standard engineering assignments, solving problems by selecting appropriate engineering techniques and making relevant design recommendations.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
- B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
- Registered member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario
- P.Eng. in other provinces outside of Ontario is an asset.
- PMP designation is an asset.
- General Experience: Substantial general Minimum of 15 years of experience involved in the design and implementation of MV and LV electrical systems as well as solid understanding of field instrumentation.
- Managerial Experience: Experience with supervising small electrical teams and development of Junior staff.
- Demonstrated experience working on healthcare, commercial, residential and municipal projects and pursuits.
- Experience with managing client relations, scope changes, schedule and budgets, tight deadlines while delivering multiple mid to small sized engineering projects.
- Excellent knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, relevant industry standards and regulations. Understanding of MV and LV power distribution design concepts, equipment and personnel safety strategies and electrical system protection theories and applications.
- Strong analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and continual diligence to follow-up. Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Self-motivated, with strong desire to learn.
- Well organized, able to multi-task and work in fast paced changing and challenging environments. Strong organizational, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
- Be a part of multi-functional teams with the ability to relate well and cooperate with other members of the team, to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
- Experience working with developers and architectural firms is an asset.
