
Health and Safety Intern - 4- or 8-month term

- Conduct site visits and complete safety reports with subcontractors and site staff
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventative measures
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Toro’s OHSM program
- Assist with emergency response and incident investigations
- Prepare and distribute safety packages for project sites
- Update policies, procedures, and documentation
- Develop safe work procedures in collaboration with construction teams
- Maintain compliance documentation and ensure accuracy
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of safety concerns
- Currently pursuing a postsecondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
- Technical knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and O.Reg.213/91 Construction Projects
- Construction experience is an asset but not required
- Valid Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and navigate active construction sites
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented
- Energetic and self-motivated promoter of health and safety
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across all levels
- Primarily outdoors on active construction sites in various stages of completion
- Exposure to all weather conditions
- Physical requirements include walking stairs, climbing ladders, and navigating uneven terrain
- Some administrative work in office settings
