Instructional duties include courses in the Elementary and Secondary Education program. Course topics in the fall semester may include Introduction to the Profession, Evaluation of Student Learning, Classroom Management, Instructional Processes, Complex Classrooms, Numeracy for Elementary Students, Diversity and Inclusive Education, Professional Field Experience, and Secondary Curriculum and Instruction.What We OfferNWP offers lifelong learning opportunities through professional development & wellness programs, a competitive salary and compensation package and a student-centered culture that is vital to our community. Instruction and research at the post secondary level is an asset. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
  • Demonstrated success in instruction as well as experience in the Alberta school system, including classroom teaching and knowledge of curriculum. Knowledge of Northern Alberta school environment is an asset.
  • Candidates must be able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.
  • Knowledge of Northwestern Polytechnic courses and current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (e.g., videoconferencing, D2L) are desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to work with the Teaching & Learning Centre.
  • Student Focused.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
