- Manage a portfolio of large and complex strategic accounts and contracts including critical part management with timely sourcing and renewals.
- Assist the Supply Chain Manager with the development of supply chain strategies to reduce costs and achieve established budget targets.
- Proactively work with vendors to mitigate price increases, negotiate fair pricing terms, ensure quality standards are met, and goods / services are received on time.
- Monitor supplier performance consisting of managing discrepancies and errors, troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective actions, seek out alternate suppliers where needed.
- Proactively communicate challenges, roadblocks, issues, and potential disruptions which may negatively impact production and overall company performance.
- Conduct and coordinate pre-bid meetings, facilitate onsite tours while representing BE’s best interests.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process including RFP/RFQ preparation, bid evaluations and preparation of contract documents for review and approval.
- Prepare, process, and provide recommendations on contract change orders.
- Monitor inventory to ensure the flow of goods remain favorable preventing production backlogs and manufacturing delays.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and understand their requirements and specifications.
- Research and identify potential suppliers of goods and services required in our environment.
- Source, evaluate bids, select, procure, arrange delivery of materials/services required for your portfolio of accounts.
- Purchase goods and/or services that meet the quantity, quality, cost, inventory requirements and lead time expectations of the organization.
- Perform transactional purchasing duties such as but not limited to:
- preparing & issuing purchasing orders
- tracking & maintaining inventory accuracy of SKU’s and supplies
- filing warranty claims with vendors
- reporting of various KPI’s
- maintain & update records using the ERP system
- 5+ years of Purchasing preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of purchasing functions in a “many-to-many” manufacturing operation.
- Completion of post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP / ASCM / APICS) is a strong asset.
- Experienced user of ERP / MRP systems (SysPro an asset).
- Experience with the competitive bid process.
- Knowledge and experience working with freight carriers.
- Up to date understanding of the commodity marketplace.
