Your goal in this position is to support meeting the Ministry of Health's standards and adhere to processes that offer the families, patients, and staff a comfortable and safe environment. You will maintain building equipment and participate in the preventative maintenance program within the hospital. You also have good written, verbal and interpersonal skills. You have the ability to complete tasks assigned and to work independently. This position supports the Hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.On a practical level, you will
- Install and mount TVs, whiteboards, posters, artwork and other.
- Assemble, repair, and maintain furniture, chairs, and cabinetry/millwork
- Install and repair door locks, hinges, and hardware; cut keys as required.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs (e.g., faucet replacement, unclogging drains).
- Perform minor electrical tasks (e.g., replacing light fixtures, outlets, switches).
- Minor bed repairs supporting bed technician.
- Troubleshoot and diagnosis of refrigeration, air conditioning and heating equipment.
- Able to complete minor flooring, wall repair and painting.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and tasks on building systems and equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance service requests.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Assist with event setup, office moves, and small renovation projects as needed.
- Follow health, safety, and building code requirements at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to general facility upkeep, seasonal tasks and special projects.
- have ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment safely.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Read and follow instructions, diagrams, or work orders.

- have Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work at various heights.
- have Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- High school diploma.
- Technical/trades school diploma an asset.
- 4+ years of experience in facility maintenance, general repairs, or a similar role.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical work.
- Valid G driver's license.
