The Millwright is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical equipment and systems used in aggregate and industrial operations. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Millwright ensures all plant equipment is operating efficiently and safely to minimize downtime and support continuous production. The role involves reading technical diagrams, working with rotating equipment, and performing hands-on repairs in a fast-paced, safety-oriented environment.WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery including conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, and gearboxes.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and work orders to complete mechanical tasks accurately.
- Assemble and align mechanical components and machinery with precision.
- Weld, fabricate, and modify equipment parts when required to restore function or improve performance.
- Ensure all mechanical work meets safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Coordinate with operations, electrical, and maintenance teams to support efficient plant operations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed and parts used.
- Participate in safety audits, meetings, and incident reporting as required.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
Education: Post secondary education
Additional Education Preferred: Technical diploma in mechanical or industrial maintenance is an asset
Field of Study Preferred: Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Mechanical Maintenance, or related trade
Required Work Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of millwright experience in an industrial, aggregate, or manufacturing setting
Required Training/Certifications: Journeyperson certification; Fall Protection, Confined Space, WHMIS, and Lockout/Tagout certifications preferred
Required Technical Skills: Mechanical troubleshooting, blueprint reading, welding, rigging, and precision alignment
Travel Requirements: Minimal travel; primarily site-based
Additional Requirements:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with rotating equipment
- Physically fit and capable of working in various weather and plant conditions
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving equipment
- Able to work independently and as part of a maintenance team
- Strong problem-solving skills with a safety-first mindset
- Willingness to work overtime, on-call, or rotating shifts if required
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
