If you're also naturally curious and eager to keep learning, consider starting or growing your career with us at The Home Depot.Position Overview:The Asset Protection Specialist (APS) is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud, organized retail crime and supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store (s). The APS will drive execution of the Company's internal and external theft and fraud strategy and utilize several tools to minimize loss to the Company. The APS must demonstrate integrity at all times, respond to and support key AP and operational concerns of all associates and remain focused on store specific business objectivesKey Responsibilities:
Building RelationshipsCommunicate with APSS (Asset Protection Specialist Supervisor) and MAPM(Market Asset Protection Manager) on internal and external investigations andphysical security within the storeMaintain an open channel of communication with store management and allassociates. Partner with store management to drive AP issuesDrive a 'Shrink Elimination' culture within the store environmentParticipate in the In Focus programComplianceDetain and interview persons apprehended for shoplifting in accordance with local laws and company proceduresDrive execution of store safety programs and validate compliance with company standards and policies. Validate environmental compliance to company standards.Check physical security of The Home Depot facilities to prevent and deter theft/fraudulent activityWrite reports documenting apprehensions and recoveries, preserve evidence and interact with law enforcementRepresent the Home Depot in a professional manner throughout all court-related proceduresBuild Skills and KnowledgeMeet all Home Depot and AP training and certification requirementsCreate associate awareness for shrink issues related to internal and external theft, operational deficiencies and physical securityEffectively support the AP Team PlanEffectively utilize CCTV and exception reports and audit the Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systemsTest building alarm systemConduct surveillance when requiredSet challenging objectives and communicate clear expectationsDemonstrate a clear bias for action and a sense of urgency on prioritiesTake ownership of success/failures of initiatives and processes.Understand and use financial indicators/metrics to measure the performanceDecision Making and Doing the Right thingUse sound judgement and makes good decisions in a timely manner.Treat internal customers (Home Depot Associates) with the highest level of responsivenessDemonstrate behaviors and work styles that are consistent with The Home Depot valuesStand up for what is right in the face of opposition at any levelForm and maintain effective partnerships across organizational boundaries to share informationSafety expectations for this role are outlined under The Home Depot CanadaEnvironmental Health & Safety Management system element under "Worker".Competencies:Action OrientedCollaboratesCommunicates EffectivelyCustomer FocusDrives ResultsSkills:Communication and negotiate effectively with all levels inside and outside the organizationAbility to analyze situations and resolve issues with innovation and creativity.Proven ability to lead and drive complex projects to completionExceptional Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office knowledge a mustExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levelsStrong work ethic, sense of responsibility and confidentiality, with the ability to work independentlyAbility to accomplish multiple assigned tasks with minimal supervisionDirect Manager/Direct Reports:Reports to Asset protection Supervisor or District Asset Protection ManagerTravel Requirements:Some Travel RequiredPhysical Requirements:May involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving merchandise and tools, climbing a ladder.Extended periods of standing and walking through out the store locationsMay involve quickly responding to public address system announcements, including customer services calls, pages, and general information.Moving around the store and being able to communicate with and assist associates & customers.Operating a computer and other technology.Working Conditions:Working within a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekends.Warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy.Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.Minimum Education:High School Diploma or GEDMinimum Years of Work Experience:1+ year(s) experience as a retail-related Loss Prevention Investigator (or equivalent) preferredMinimum Leadership Experience:NACertifications:Where applicable, Asset Protection associates are required to maintain a valid and up to date security guard license and/or private investigator license.Other Requirements/Assets:Must have access to a vehicleMay be required to travel to various stores in the (market area)Bilingualism (French/English) an assetThe pay range for this position is between $22.00 - $24.00In our commitment to efficiency, consistency, and a fair hiring experience for all candidates, The Home Depot Canada uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to assist with the screening and assessment of applicants for this position.
