
Instrumentation Technician with PLC and/or TDC

- Calibrating, troubleshooting, repairing and replacing process Instrumentation as a part of the plant's maintenance program.
- Repair and tune various types of controllers associated with process Instrumentation.
- Install or remove both field and panel mounted equipment.
- Pull, repair and calibrate pneumatic and electric actuated control valves.
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance activities on instruments in operating units during daily operations, equipment turnarounds, and projects.
- Execute Critical Test Procedures on Instrument Protective Functions
- Troubleshoot equipment failures; Instrumentation process conditions and impacts to recommend improvements for chronic reliability problems.
- Read P&IDs, perform scheduled preventative maintenance work, complete test and maintenance reports, read circuit diagrams, logical approach for troubleshooting
- Work in a manner that improves and enhances teamwork, plant organization and efficiency.
- Routine testing of critical Instrument systems and associated equipment.
- Maintain equipment calibration and repair documentation.
- You will be reporting to the electrical, instrument & analyzer supervisor. Working a day schedule, you'll have the opportunity to interact with and learn from various groups within the refinery including the operations department, other maintenance groups and experienced maintenance technicians.
- PLC experience in programming and troubleshooting is an asset.
- TDC experience in troubleshooting is an asset.
- Previous experience of troubleshooting and repairing instruments is required.
- The ability to consistently follow safe work practices, basic maintenance procedures and enthusiastically contribute to a safe work culture.
- Has knowledge and ability to work with technology related PLC, TDC and instrumentation
- Has an understanding of process control loops and process control system, including those that are computer based
- Must be able to effectively use computer system tools and LAN functions
- Degrees & certifications required for the job should be listed here, listing ‘B.S. or equivalent work experience’ in this section is acceptable if an actual degree is not required :
- Minimum education requirement is a two-year technical school diploma as an Instrument Technician from a recognized community college or equivalent. Preference will be given to individuals with a three-year Instrument Technician diploma.
- Certified 447A Instrumentation & Control Technician is an asset.
- Valid Class 'G' drive license required
