- Evaluate and manage personal lines and complex commercial claims including builder’s risk claims from initial report to final settlement
- Conduct thorough investigations, including site inspections and interviews with relevant parties.
- Assess damages and determine coverage based on policy terms.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers and other experts to gather necessary documentation and evidence
- Negotiate settlements with customers, ensuring fair and equitable resolutions
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all claims activities while keeping all parties current on claim progress.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.
- Provide expert advise and support to policyholders throughout the claims process.
- Ensure all correspondence is completed in a timely and effective manner including the creation of Critical Path Letters, Proof of Losses, and Reservation of Rights letters etc.
- Responsible for data accuracy and issuing payments to vendors, insureds and expert
- Responsible for recognizing questionable claims, subrogation and risk opportunities
- Review case law to determine liability
- Thorough knowledge of the property insurance industry specializing in complex commercial losses
- At least 7-10 years of large loss adjusting experience (commercial and residential property claims)
- Solid experience in directly handling complex losses in excess of $250,000, preferably in the multimillion dollars range
- Strong construction knowledge and digital literacy
- Strong case law knowledge in both civil code and common law provinces
- Thorough knowledge of a variety of property coverage wordings
- Some basic accounting skills
- Superior communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent report writing skills
