SENIOR ESTIMATOR (CIVIL CONSTRUCTION)

- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine the full project scope
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions, gather data, and identify potential challenges
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, infrastructure, and grading
- Analyze quantities, materials, labour, and equipment requirements across all project phases
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness
- Utilize historical cost data, estimating databases, and industry benchmarks to validate pricing
- Identify risks, assumptions, and cost variances and clearly communicate findings to stakeholders
- Provide value engineering recommendations to improve cost efficiency while maintaining quality and safety
- Collaborate with project teams to prepare competitive bid proposals and tender submissions
- Maintain organized estimating records and cost documentation for future reference and analysis
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Civil Construction Estimator or Senior Estimator in heavy civil construction (must-have)
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on industry experience
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods, engineering principles, and project delivery models
- Experience using construction estimating software (must-have)
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost development and documentation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and field teams
- Valid Class 5 Driverâs Licence with a clean driving record and willingness to attend site meetings (must-have)
- Problem-solving mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Salary Range: $130,000 â $180,000 per year (higher compensation may be considered for the right candidate)
- Location: Based out of Cranbrook, BC
- Initial 1â2 months remote to ensure mutual fit before relocation
- Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week (8 hours/day); salaried role with flexibility for longer days as required
- Travel: Occasional site visits required
