While reporting to the Senior Manager of Regulatory Compliance and Affairs you will support the Regulation Management Program and lead the monitoring process throughout our North American assets. You will understand regulatory frameworks throughout various jurisdictions (federal, state/provincial, and local), and possess a background in the oil and gas industry as well as emerging energy. In addition, you will possess knowledge and relevant experience in regulatory analysis, communication, training, and/or project management.The successful candidate will be eligible for company benefits including medical/dental/vision, vacation time off, and flex days. Additionally, this position comes with the option of a hybrid work schedule, combining working in our Calgary office with working remotely.Some travel is required within North America.Responsibilities:Monitor regulatory or policy requirements (federal, state/provincial, and local) from regulators and standards agencies that are applicable to Plains.Conduct analysis of policy changes as part of the Regulation Management Program (RMP).Communicate policy requirement analysis to relevant subject matter experts who then complete impact assessments on the Company.Participate in trade associations to monitor and influence policy changes through formal commenting processes.Assist in the configuration and implementation of enhancements of the Regulatory Information Management System (RIMS).Track the completion of work in RIMS and develop statistics for internal reporting via Power BI.Support users of RIMS.Manage and communicate regulatory issues to stakeholders about process changes, statistics, and policy requirement changes.Develop and maintain governance documents.Develop and implement a legislative compliance process.Maintain Emerging Energy tracker.Research, apply, and manage conditions for government grant applications for Canada and the US.Maintain a growing network of industry and agency contacts.Develop and foster working relationships with all internal stakeholders and field staff.Support divisional teams and regulatory compliance efforts as needed.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, public policy, or related discipline2-5 years’ experience in a regulatory capacity preferred; New grads with internship experience will be consideredWorking understanding of the Canadian legislative and regulatory processes and industry specific agencies; knowledge of regulatory bodies in US considered an assetBasic knowledge of petroleum storage and transportation facilities, as well as emerging energy (CCUS, hydrogen, solar, fuel cell etc.)Highly developed verbal and written communication skillsExcellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Power BI, Dynamics 365) and industry applicationsSelf-starter who can quickly grasp engineering design, operational, and integrity concepts and communicate them to internal and external stakeholdersSolid judgment when dealing with sensitive issuesWillingness to travel to field locations and trade association meetingsValid driver's license with a clean abstractCleared criminal history (background check) and satisfactory reference checksOur employees drive our success.
