- Lead daily safety inspections, audits, and toolbox talks.
- Provide on-site emergency medical response and manage first aid the person.
- Implement emergency response plans and conduct drills.
- Monitor contractor safety compliance and support corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training and orientations (e.g., WHMIS, CPR, Fall Protection).
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, and support reporting and documentation.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure safety integration into daily operations.
- Maintain accurate records of safety activities and medical interventions.
- 2-5 years of direct HSE experience in construction, preferably in institutional or healthcare projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Safety certifications such as NCSO, CRSP, CHST, or Construction Safety Officer (CSO) are preferred.
- Occupational First Aid Level 2 (with Transportation Endorsement) – mandatory.
- Certified Paramedic or Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) designation.
- Occupational First Aid Level 3 or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of provincial safety regulations and emergency protocols.
- Excellent communication and incident documentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation in British Columbia.
- Experience with COR auditing, ISO standards, and subcontractor management.
- Familiarity with cranes and hoisting operations is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable adopting new technologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to influence and educate teams on safety best practices and compliance.
