- Plans and implements developmentally appropriate learning activities/programs based on the holistic development of all children.
- Assists the Supervisor in implementing policies and procedures of the Centre including health and safety procedures.
- Provides back-up for the Supervisor during absences, administering medication, completing budget ledgers and statistical records, and ensuring payment of centre expenditures.
- Maintains an orderly, tidy and fully equipped Centre by ensuring that materials are available and requests for replacements and repairs are made when necessary.
- Participates in staff and parent meetings, special events, and works with outside agencies.
- Participates in orientation of new staff members and students.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
- Diploma in early childhood education or early childhood education equivalency; and
- Certification as an early childhood educator; and
- Three years’ experience in a child care setting
- Knowledge of the Ontario Child Care and Early Years Act
- A demonstrated ability to meet and work with people
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Must be at a basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software
- Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- Must have and maintain First Aid Certification
- Must have and maintain Safe Food Handling Certification (Level 1)
- Must have and maintain an up-to-date record of immunization
- Prior to commencing employment, must provide documentary evidence of having undergone a one-step tuberculosis skin test
- Must have and maintain membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Photos
- Any certificates that have photo identification
- Driver’s licences
- Police records checks
