We are Making Sustainability Happen.As our new Early Career Environmental Scientist/Engineer, you will play an important role on our Land Quality and Remediation team in Vancouver.RoleYour passion for fieldwork and the environment will see you executing and leading a variety of programs related to the assessment, monitoring, management, and remediation of contaminated sites. Field work is a core component of this role and is foundational to building strong technical skills and a successful long-term career at SLR.No two days will be the same as you lead and support different aspects of varied projects at a range of urban and remote sites including midstream and downstream oil and gas facilities, commercial and industrial properties, and federal and municipal sites. You will gain hands-on experience that builds technical judgement, confidence, and site awareness essential to progressing within SLR.Your knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our team and will see you involved in the full life cycle of projects as you assist the project manager with budgeting, planning, coordinating, and executing projects, data analysis and reviews, and reporting.   • Participating in all facets of environmental or contaminated site projects including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, remediation programs, and long-term environmental monitoring of sites.
  • Participating in remediation programs and remediation system operation and maintenance.
  • Participating in environmental monitoring programs at construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Assisting with the preparation of a variety of technical reports.
  • Supporting project managers with project planning and coordination, reporting, and tracking schedules and budget.
  • Assisting with technical and financial proposal preparation.

  • The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000. Final agreed-upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:
  • Minimum of a degree or a technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or related studies.
  • Preferred minimum 1 year of experience in contaminated site work including supporting and leading environmental site assessments (Phase I, II, and III ESAs), soil and groundwater sampling programs, and remediation programs.
  • Comfortable with frequent field work and motivated to build a strong technical foundation through hands-on site experience.
  • Available to work away from home occasionally for up to 2 weeks at a time.
  • Ability to work independently and in small teams, including in remote locations and varied field conditions.
  • Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to subsurface investigations at contaminated sites, and environmental monitoring at construction sites.
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., E.I.T., G.I.T., A.Sc.T, P.Tech, C.E.T., etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license for travel to job sites.
