- Assist in the development and implementation of the company safety program and initiatives, providing updates company-wide as necessary
- Prepare and conduct safety and toolbox meetings to increase awareness of specific safety hazards and processes
- Provide support and direction to sub-trade companies concerning their safety program and address any safety-related questions
- Assist in updating, reviewing, and managing the company’s existing safety manual
- Develop Safe Job Procedures (SJP) and Safe Work Procedures (SWP) to maximize the safety of critical tasks
- Conduct new hire orientations and sub-trade orientations
- Train new workers in WHIMIS and other safety-related training as required
- Perform inspections and complete follow-up as required
- Conduct hazard assessments and ensure all safety aspects are current and up to date
- Supervision of workers, both Eagle and sub-trades daily to correct unsafe acts and ensure safety conscience attitudes and work
- Ensuring corrective actions are applied and deliver the desired outcomes
- Tracking, recording, investigation and follow-up of all incidents, first aid recorders and near misses, analyzing data to identify trends
- Apply on-the-job training by learning and implementing best practices in safety management, continuously improving safety knowledge and skills.
- Participate in and contribute to training, meetings, and hands-on activities to enhance safety expertise and practical application.
- Ensure maintenance schedules are met for all heavy equipment, machines, and tools to ensure good working condition to minimize down time, costly maintenance and prevent unexpected incidents
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
- Applicants successful in the interview process will be asked to complete a pre-employment assessment as part of the final hiring process
- Valid Class 5 license and reliable transportation
- Available to work Monday – Friday 12:00pm to 9:00pm
- Minimum 40 hours per week, must be flexible, willing to work overtime and the occasional Saturday
- Knowledge of Provincial OH&S, WHMIS, WCB and related legislation
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
- Familiar with Microsoft Office
- Physically fit with the ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods
- Excellent in both verbal and written English communication
- Outstanding critical thinking skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Local or willing to relocate to Central Alberta
- NCSO designation or a desire to achieve
- General construction knowledge or background
- Experience working in a manufacturing facility or construction environment
- WHMIS 2015 Train the Trainer certification and Standard First Aid certification
- Knowledge of WHIMIS, WCB and related legislation
- Understanding of SiteDocs or related safety software
