- Manage the geotechnical group of engineers and technicians.
- Ensure successful delivery of projects.
- Contribute to the development and growth of the company’s strategic initiatives in the geotechnical sector.
- Assist in the recruitment and development of geotechnical talent
- Scoping Projects and assisting in the preparation of proposals
- Work with senior engineers within OEL and our close senior associates in providing supervision, training and guidance to junior staff.
- Lead and prepare geotechnical studies and engineering reports providing recommendations on various geotechnical aspects in projects, based on studies and project-specific work.
- Review and approve geotechnical designs and reports prepared by others.
- Act as the Engineer of Record on projects as required
- Providing accurate and pertinent geotechnical investigation data, analyses/modelling, designs, and reports according to agreed-upon methods, procedures, and techniques.
- Providing responsive geotechnical advice to co-workers on a wide range of projects through collaboration in a multidisciplinary project team.
- Establishing, developing, promoting and maintaining relationships with clients
- Review geotechnical modeling and analysis using industry standard software such as AutoCad, Geo5, RocScience, L-Pile or similar tools.
- Strong Leadership, mentorship and communication skills
- Experienced in slope stability analysis and geotechnical investigation (test pitting and drilling investigations) and design for land and resource development.
- Well versed with geotechnical modelling software (preferably slope stability and/or pile assessment).
- A committed and positive attitude along with an obvious client focus and the ability to build a positive rapport with customers.
- Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work with the ability to complete occasional extended field trips is considered an asset (generally 2-3 days at a time and occasionally up to 1 week).
- Strong technical writing abilities.
- Proven ability to manage projects effectively and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Registered or eligible for registration with EGBC as a professional engineer (geological or civil)
- Minimum of 10 years of Geotechnical Engineering consulting experience
- Previous management role is an asset.
