- Perform functional analysis, create Systems Breakdown Structure, functional block diagrams, Systems Architecture and sequence diagrams
- Embrace teamwork and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all Stakeholder and PA Support Rail & Transit to develop
- Systems Integration Management, Systems Engineering Management, Interface Management, and System Cutover Plans
- Interface Definition Documents (IDD's) Interface Control Documents (ICD's), Integration Oversight Processes, and traceability documentation
- Lead or facilitate interface resolution meetings and workshops involving designers, contractors, systems vendors, and the operator
- Align design integration activities with project stage gates
- Ensure Validation and Verification processes across interfacing systems are fully defined to ensure compliance, interoperability, and performance of integrated systems
- Support verification of integrated design compliance against the relevant System Design, Integration, and Performance Requirements, as well as all applicable industry codes and standards, and client expectations
- Interact with clients to discuss technical topics in a clear and professional manner. Facilitate resolution of customer expectations versus technical issues
- Provide valuable leadership to junior staff and mentoring to develop their technical skills
- Work with tight schedules, be flexible, control project budgets, and motivate junior staff
- Plan and execute project work, based on an understanding of the project scope, schedule, and budget
- Proposal and Project assignments may include Commuter, Subway, Light Rail, Heavy Rail, Transit Storage and Maintenance Facilitates, Transit Tunnels
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline from an accredited University
- Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or P.Eng. License
- INCOSE Certification such as ASEP or CSEP would be an asset
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in transit or safety-critical industry or related engineering field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering domain is preferred
- Must have strong knowledge and understanding of Systems Engineering process and principles
- Previous experience in Systems Integration for complex Rail & Transit project is an asset
- Proven ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units
- Experience in a Consulting Engineering environment is an asset
- Proficiency in systems lifecycle management, including V-model, interface definition, and testing alignment
- Strong familiarity with ISO/IEC 15288 and IEEE 1220 Systems Engineering standards
- Experience in Verification and Validation (test planning/PICO/FAT/SAT/SIT) would be an asset
- Knowledge of identification and management of project risks
- Understanding of the System Safety Certification processes and RAMS standards
- Knowledge of CENELEC standards and Metrolinx Schedule 29 is an asset
- Understanding of Requirements Management (RM) and usage of RM tools such as IBM Rational DOORS will be an asset
- Basic knowledge of Civil design, Signaling principles, SCADA, Communications, Trackwork, Systems Assurance (RAM), Safety Assurance, Vehicle and Wayside Interfaces, Traction Power Design, Power Supply and Distribution, Mechanical, System and Train Simulation, Tunnel's, and Fire Life Safety Systems will be an asset
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio
- Strong communication skills, presentation skills, and report writing skills
- Involvement in systems integration for transit or rail extension projects, ideally under a progressive or alternative delivery model
- Familiarity with Requirements Management and Integration using tools like IBM DOORS
- Familiarity with Metrolinx Design Standards and Design Manuals is an asset
- Knowledge of transit-related subsystems including:
- SCADA, Communications, Signaling, RAMS, Traction Power, Fire Life Safety, and Building Electrical/Mechanical
- Experience supporting coordination of Verification and Validation (V&V) efforts, including test plan development and readiness reviews
- Understanding of T&C readiness and risk of interface conflicts, design assumptions, or construction constraints
