- Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical problems with production equipment.
- Read diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals to determine work procedures
- Conduct routine inspections of systems and equipment to identify deficiencies and make corrections.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Operations, Planning and Materials to minimize equipment downtime.
- Liaise with subcontractors and vendors to perform work at Aspen.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance and inspection records.
- Ensures that Aspen policies and procedures are followed related to the performance of maintenance.
- Always keep an organized and tidy workspace.
- Executes maintenance tasks with a high level of quality, safety, and professionalism expected in the performance of maintenance tasks.
- Perform minor adjustments on HVAC systems.
- Protect Company assets by properly securing tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Report requests for major repairs to the Manager.
- Be available to work a flexible schedule.
- Assist other employees in various assignments.
- Perform work duties in accordance with Company safety and security policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties outlined in the Company’s Preventative Maintenance Program, including adherence to the work order process.
- Participate in problem solving and process improvement work.
- Assist in development of maintenance program, including equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Identify opportunities to reduce facility and equipment operating costs.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Solid organizational capabilities and ability to complete tasks.
- Able to work autonomously and uses good decision-making practices.
- Problem solving ability in a customer focused environment.
- Able to read and understand engineered drawings.
- Able to maintain a professional and calm demeanor in challenging situations.
- Able to identify procedure and process improvements and advise the appropriate stakeholders.
- Must be able to consistently work under pressure and simultaneously prioritize multiple projects.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Journeyperson ticket is an asset but not necessary.
- A minimum of three years of experience working in maintenance or mechanical role.
- Solid working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical industrial systems.
- Manufacturing shop experience would be an asset.
- Experience with a variety of industrial equipment, especially coatings systems, overhead cranes, plasma cutting, welding, and/or machine tools would be an asset.
- Experience at communication with various personality types and various levels of urgency or challenge, and able to adjust personal style accordingly.
- Basic knowledge of Supply Chain and Accounting processes.
- A Class 5 driver’s license, with no more than 6 demerits.
- Aerial work platform operator ticket, fall arrest and restraint certification and Standard First Aid and WHMIS training are assets.
- Building maintenance 1 and 2 certificates are an asset.
- Basic computer skills.
- The work performed is carried out indoors in a regulated environment.
- Occasional work or exposure to outdoors.
- Regular exposure to industrial shop hazards which require additional protection from noise, fall hazards and air quality. Safety boots must be worn.
- Regular fast pace or work with tight deadlines.
- A medium stress environment due to timelines.
- Monday to Friday – 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
