- Capturing and managing key data elements
- Maintenance of all investment accounting record-keeping activities until asset disposition
- Review trade tickets and accounting entries for accuracy; ensure figures agree with transacted amounts and support provided from General Partners
- Review completeness of supporting documentation and appropriate authorizations to facilitate new deal closings
- Act as the reviewer for specific period processes and procedures (daily, monthly and quarterly)
- Identify issues and assist the Manager in determining corrective actions; promptly escalate irregular activities or issues
- Partner with colleagues from the Investment Departments, Structuring and Business Management, Tax and Treasury to successfully close and fund transactions by proactively identifying and resolving operational issues
- Liaise with investment partners, industry peers, audit and other service providers
- Preparing quarterly valuation and ensuring valuation adjustments are accurately recorded
- Ensure timely completion and accuracy of various reports and reconciliations relating to portfolio holdings, P&L and daily performance returns
- Prepare or review quarterly financial reports and schedules, note disclosures and management reports while ensuring their accuracy and completeness
- Update process documentation for key business processes
- Through innovation, develop and enhance internal controls and monitoring procedures related to periodic processes
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies in workflows and recommending automated or streamlined solutions.
- Lead root cause analyses to identify operational risks or recurring issues and drive the implementation of effective preventive controls.
- Lead or assist in various special projects and initiatives as CPPIB works towards our CPPIB 2025 vision.
- Prioritize workload so that all deadlines are met
- Working on special projects and other duties as assigned
- Display leadership and provide guidance to Analysts
- Undergraduate or Master's Degree in Finance, Commerce or other related discipline
- Professional designations such as a CPA, CFA, CBV are considered an asset
- 3-5 years of related work experience (e.g. finance, consulting, private equity, accounting firm, fund accounting, etc.)
- Strong analytical, financial and management accounting skills will be necessary to perform this role
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Expert in time management
- Excellent attention to detail and consistently high levels of accuracy
