- Domestic and international corporate tax planning, reorganizations for Private clients, corporations, and individuals.
- Project planning including the creation and execution of step plans, rulings as needed, drafting objections, extensive jurisprudential research on issues and writing on the same, and drafting of opinions
- Work with partners and senior tax practitioners, discuss matters with clients and other advisors
- Stay abreast of new tax developments including case law, OECD changes, Treaties, and other changes.
- Present internally and externally on taxation matters as required (e.g., interesting technical problems solved or new legislation or cases)
- Participate in and contribute to the attainment of team objectives.
- Write papers and articles on taxation for publication as required
- This role involves interaction with clients operating nationally and globally where fluency in French and English is required. Bilingualism in both French and English is therefore a requirement of this role.
- A degree in Law, called to the Bar and licenced to practice within the province of Quebec
- Completion of the CICA In-Depth Tax Course or completion of the LLM Tax is an asset
- Four or more years Canadian Corporate tax experience, with a focus on private clients
- Strong project management and organizational skills paired with the ability to switch between projects quickly, e.g., from internal reorgs to discussions on Pillar 2 to withholding taxes
- Experience researching and writing utilizing electronic tax tools.
- Ability to work independently within a team framework and provide high quality client deliverables within tight timelines
