The Transportation Planning and Design section is looking for 2 talented team-oriented Engineering Project Managers to lead and be involved in managing the planning and design of diverse transportation infrastructure projects. In this challenging position, day-to-day work includes leading transportation projects through the development of concept and/or preliminary designs including Streetscapes, Bridges, Roads, Interchanges, Transit and Active Transportation projects. Responsibility will also extend to providing support during the detailed design and delivery stages of the project.You will be working closely with other project management and engineering professionals in day-to-day activities, leading and supporting the management of the planning and design of transportation infrastructure projects assigned to you.What will you do?:Coordinate and manage the planning and design of transportation facilities, ranging from bridges and roads to active modes and transit infrastructureLiaise with technical professionals to develop concept and preliminary engineering drawings based on City design and construction standards, guidelines and policiesCollaborate with other City Departments, consultants, outside agencies and the public in the planning and design of transportation facilitiesManage contract administration, consultant procurement, claims management and consultant performance evaluationManage multiple internal and external Consultant projects in accordance to the City procedures with emphasis on budget, schedule, scope, and qualityPrepare, update, and maintain project management documentation as per the City’s Project Development and Delivery Model (PDDM) and use project management best practices to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and within scopeCoordinate the contributions and feedback from project collaborators to ensure collaborative, effective, and efficient project deliveryCoordinate and conduct meetings, workshops and liaise with other business units at the City of EdmontonCollaborate with other City departments in the development and execution of Public Engagement and Communication PlansLead, conduct and participate in public engagement activities including: public events, presentations and one-on-one meetings to provide information, build awareness, and gather feedback on projectsRespond to inquiries received from the public and other City groups and CouncilQualificationsBachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Civil or Transportation EngineeringMust be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing and registered with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to commencement of employmentMinimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal or related project engineeringSkills required for success:Familiar with relevant codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures (APEGA, OH&S, Environmental, Complete Streets Design and Construction Standards, TAC Design Guide, etc.)Ability to interact with the public and other collaborators, possessing excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenUnderstanding of planning and design processes related to transportation infrastructure projects Strong program/project management skills including an understanding of project management methods and techniques (PMBOK best practices)Proven planning, organizational and problem solving skillsStrong conflict resolution and negotiation skills with experience in solving complex and sensitive issuesStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to listen actively and to prepare reports and presentationsDemonstrate ability and willingness to develop strong, strategic, relationships and deliver work in a collaborative, integrated mannerExperience managing and working with external consultantsCapacity to develop and lead teams to obtain resultsAlignment to ourEmbracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusionAlignment with the goals of the and/or the Environmental Management System EnvisoAssets:Experience developing and implementing public engagement processes would be considered an assetExperience working within a Google Workspace environment with Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar and DriveConditions of employment:● Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent).
