
Journeyman Sheet Metal Fabricator

- Read engineering and architectural drawings, sketches and work specifications to be performed, and lay out, measure and mark sheet metal according to drawings or templates.
- Operate light metal working machines such as shears, brakes, and drill presses.
- Install and use rigging and hoisting equipment.
- Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment to fabricate products such as ventilation shafts, exhaust hoods, eaves-troughs, partition frames, air and heat ducts, material handling systems, roof decking and sheet metal buildings.
- Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes.
- Inspect product quality and installation to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
- Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certificate is preferred.
- 3-4 years of directly related work experience.
- As a condition of employment, employees are required, upon hire, to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement.
- This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
