- Working to support operations of the Gallery with support from RPL’s marketing and communication, IT, People and Culture, Finance and Facilities units.
- Collaboration with other internal units including the Executive Director, Central Library to define an artistic vision for the Dunlop that reflect and resonate with our local and regional communities, as well as broader audiences.
- From that vision, develop a practical, measurable operations plan that includes short- and long-term goals and objectives for the Dunlop to deliver its mandate and align with the overall direction and priorities of the library.
- Foster and maintain ongoing relationships with local audiences, local artists, community partners, and other stakeholders.
- Cultivate and maintain corporate, private foundation, government and community sponsorships and partnerships.
- Collaborate with the curatorial and gallery team to:
- Develop programming activities relevant and of value to Regina audiences; and
- Integrate interpretive design into curatorial methodology and exhibition design with the aim to enhance visual literacy.
- Manage the gallery’s budget to align with the annual operations plan, ensuring a balance between artistic objectives and fiscal responsibility.
- Oversee direction and development of exhibitions, educational programs, and outreach initiatives. Ensure that Dunlop exhibitions, programs, and services respond and reflect the community.
- Direct the acquisitions process for the permanent collection and art rental collection and oversee the growth and maintenance of the collections.
- Oversee the fulfillment of all contractual obligations between the Dunlop Art Gallery artists, art institutions and other key stakeholders, as well as those of contractors and suppliers.
- Manage the performance of five permanent full-time staff members and an extended team of 10 people.
- A minimum three years of administrative work in an arts and cultural institution with increasing leadership and supervisory responsibilities, including:
- managing teams (within a unionized environment an asset)
- curating exhibitions and/or developing original artistic programming
- overseeing budgets and financial reporting
- Graduate degree (MA or higher) in art history, curatorial studies, fine arts, arts administration, moving image studies, or cultural studies, that includes coursework in business or arts and cultural administration.
- Proven ability in engaging community and forming meaningful partnerships.
- Interest in the local community, enhancing engagement and enjoyment with arts, and the opportunities inherent in working as a part of a public library.
- Proven track record to secure and sustain funding through grants.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, colleagues, artists, partners, and funders.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills to analyze financial, budgetary, and visitor operational data.
