Description :Big White Ski Resort is seeking applications for the full time position of Retail Assistant Manager.The ideal candidate will have, at least, 1 year previous management experience and be confident leading a team of 30+ people. The Retail Assistant Manager should have a pre-existing knowledge of the snow sports industry or a passion for the sport and willingness to learn.
Our retail outlets offer a wide range of products, from ski and snowboard related merchandise to giftware. We strive to provide outstanding customer service and sincerity in outfitting our guests with product that will ensure a great experience and memory of their time at Big White.The Retail Assistant Manager should lead by example; assisting on the shop floor as needed, proactively training staff to ensure product knowledge and customer service skillsets meet expectations and demonstrating a positive and productive attitude for a cohesive work environment.Job Duties & Responsibilities will Include:
  • Staff training and development
  • Staff management, supervision and discipline where needed
  • Staff Hiring
  • Writing staff schedules
  • Inventory management including receiving and processing, stock take and shrinkage control
  • Maintaining inventory levels
  • Inventory security
  • Resolving merchandise problems such as supply shortages, faulty goods, returns
  • Merchandising
  • Cleanliness and presentation of all shops and storage areas
  • Spending time on the shop floor to support and mentor staff as well as engaging in sales in order to stay in touch with our customers.
  • Responding to customer concerns and feedback
  • Staying abreast of trends and new products in the industry
  • Assisting the Retail Manager & Vice President with buying decisions & writing orders
Required qualifications/skills:
  • 1+ years of management experience
  • Ability to use a variety of computer applications
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Professional attitude
  • Administrative skills
  • A leadership style that can adapt to a variety of ages and cultures
  • Must be approachable, dependable and a strong team player
  • Ability to troubleshoot with a calm demeanor
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints

Start Date: June 2024
Contract: Full Time Year Round
Salary: $56,000
