Animal Care Attendant, Surgery DepartmentScarborough, ONToronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital is a busy emergency and referral hospital that is currently looking for an Animal Care Attendant to join its active surgery department. This full-time opportunity includes a range of responsibilities which directly attributes to the efficient and effective daily operations of the hospital.Qualifications:
  • Assist with surgery and anesthesia: surgical assistance for induction, prep and in surgery, radiographs, setting up and cleaning OR'sand , maintaining stock. The surgical ACA is responsible for equipment cleaning, packing and repair, autoclaving, gas sterilizing
  • Patient care (walking, feeding, assisting the RVTs with restraint for procedures)
  • Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment
  • General housekeeping duties; pet holding areas, surgical suites/treatment areas and common areas
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • The ability to follow written and verbal directions and execute tasks with the highest quality and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team while remaining composed in emergency situations
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional duties as needed
