In Halifax, BAE Systems plays a key role in Canada's east-coast naval operations, delivering naval engineering, combat systems, software, programme management, and in-service support to the Royal Canadian Navy in close partnership with government and shipbuilding stakeholders.Role DescriptionMeridia Recruitment is proud to partner with BAE Systems to recruit a Project Planner for their Halifax operations. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and control integrated project schedules that support the successful delivery of complex naval programmes.You will translate design and delivery requirements into logically linked, resource and budget loaded schedules aligned with the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), cardinal dates, and key delivery milestones. Working closely with Control Account Managers (CAMs) and Integrated Project Team (IPT) Managers, you will ensure planning quality, governance compliance, and accurate forecasting across all phases of the project lifecycle.Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop, maintain, and control integrated project and delivery schedules aligned to the IMS, declared cardinal dates, and quarterly look-ahead plans.
- Translate ship design and delivery scope into Level 1, 2, and 3 schedules with appropriate logic, resourcing, and budget loading.
- Allocate task budgets and align work scope budgets with CAM and project targets.
- Ensure schedule quality and compliance with planning governance and Baseline Change Request processes.
- Support weekly and monthly schedule and project performance reviews.
- Validate, challenge, and advise on progress and completion forecasts, identifying schedule risks, opportunities, and required enablers.
- Provide visible, hands-on planning support to CAMs and IPT Managers across Engineering, Supply Chain, Build, Commissioning, and Acceptance phases.
- Monitor, analyse, and report schedule performance and project status to support informed decision-making.
- Strong knowledge of planning and scheduling policies, processes, procedures, and systems.
- Experience working in complex engineering or production environments.
- Experience with Earned Value Management.
- Proficiency with modern planning tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Clear and effective communication skills with a proven stakeholder engagement approach.
- Professional project management qualification (e.g., APM PMQ or equivalent), or willingness to work toward accreditation.
- Experience across a full project lifecycle.
- Understanding of planning structures and principles (WBS, PBS).
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Experience in defence or similarly regulated, complex engineering environments.
- Knowledge of engineering, supply chain, build, commissioning, and acceptance phases.
- Engineering background (Diploma, Degree, or equivalent certification) is preferred but not required.
