We are currently seeking a Red Seal Machinist to join our team in Granton, NS.Position SummaryThe Machinist is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely manufacturing, modification, and repair of mechanical components used in Michelin manufacturing and maintenance operations. This role supports production reliability by producing precision parts using manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, and electric discharge machines (EDM), while working from drawings, sketches, and technical documentation.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely operate manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, and electric discharge machines (EDM)Operate supporting shop equipment such as surface grinders, drill presses, and sawsManufacture, modify, and repair parts from detail drawings, sketches, or sample componentsInterpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Perform machine setup, fixturing, alignment, and datum establishmentUse EDM processes to manufacture precision features in hardened or difficult‑to‑machine materialsInspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gaugesApply mathematical calculations including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry related to machiningIdentify material types, metal properties, and basic heat treatment considerationsTroubleshoot machining and EDM issues to achieve required quality and toleranceMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with Michelin safety standardsSupport maintenance, reliability, and production teams to reduce equipment downtimeParticipate in continuous improvement activitiesRequired QualificationsRed Seal MachinistDemonstrated experience operating manual lathes and millsWorking knowledge of electric discharge machining (EDM) principles and applicationsStrong understanding of machining fundamentals, blueprint reading, and tolerancesAbility to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environmentYour Career with MichelinMichelin North America (Canada) Inc. has been recognized as one of Canada’s top 100 Employers in 2026.
