
Cost Accountant Associate

- Perform month-end closure tasks in relation to cost of sales and inventory
- Cost Accounting
- Prepare month-end balance sheet account reconciliations for inventory related accounts
- Prepare support for and process necessary journal entries related to inventory
- Analyze standard cost variances (purchase price variances (PPV), efficiencies, etc)
- Perform standard cost rolls
- Project costing analysis (transfer, reclassification)
- Analysis of quarter end inventory balances vs prior year
- Work closely with the Procurement and Materials teams to analyze and manage inventory levels
- Understand and comply with SOX controls for Inventory
- Liaise with internal auditors, external auditors and Corporate office and provide financial data where necessary
- Participate in monthly forecast for Cost of Sales, and Inventory
- Perform forecast to actual analysis on various departmental spend
- Prepare reserve analysis for inventory
- Participate in the year end standard cost roll-up process
- Research US GAAP and recommend conclusions in relation to Inventory
- Ad hoc tasks assigned by the Manager and continuous improvement projects
- Fast learner with time management and organizational skills
- Experience with SQL, database query applications
- Advanced knowledge in MS Excel and knowledge of other Microsoft applications
- Knowledge of GAAP (Canadian or US)
- Analytical skills
- Cost accounting skills. (Focus on standard costing environment, Item Masters, BOM’s, Routings)
- Ability to adapt and respond quickly to urgent business requests
- Team player attitude, ability to develop strong working relationships with related key managers and support staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong process improvement orientation
- Bachelor's degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
- Requires Broad Theoretical job knowledge.
