This role is physically demanding and requires crouching, bending, lifting and kneeling.A solid knowledge base in the operation of various types of equipment is necessary for this position. The successful candidate must be adaptive to changing priorities, have a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Familiarity with oilfield operations is an asset. Previous experience pulling up to 48 wheelers, winch trucks, and construction materials hauling are essential to this position. A current drivers abstract must be provided prior to hiring.Job Overview and Responsibilities
  • Maintain daily logs as required, perform trip inspection on equipment operated and loaded ensuring safety and road worthiness, other paperwork as necessary
  • Obtain and manage required permits for oversized and specialized loads
  • Responsible for securing load, conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Report any mechanical deficiencies to appropriate department
  • Operate winch trucks, Jeeps, and other specialized hauling equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of load distribution and securement techniques for various types of heavy equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation legislation, including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver's hours, and OH&S standards
  • Comply with Border Paving Ltd. safe working procedures and practices
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule including overtime, weekend and out of town work as required during the construction season (May - November)
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to maintain and improve skills
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
