The successful candidate will work closely with IRAD leads, contributing to real-world deliverables and gaining exposure to defense industry standards.This is an excellent opportunity for students looking to explore a career in project management in the defense industry.As a Project Specialist Intern, you will assist in the development, management, and execution of research projects under the guidance of experienced management team and engineers.Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Assist the IRAD management team in tracking schedules, milestones, and deliverables across cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare, update, and organize project files, meeting minutes, and internal reports in accordance with standards.
  • Compile project metrics, track progress, and assist in analyzing key performance indicators to support decision-making.
  • Communicate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to gather status updates and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Support adherence to internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards relevant to defense programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, scope and objectives.
  • Conduct research and literature reviews to inform future project planning.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and IRAD proposals.
  • Assist in the evaluation of emerging technologies and potential research opportunities.
What you bring to the role
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Engineering, Business Administration (Project Management focus), or a related technical field.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Team-based experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word)
  • Effective communicator in English and French (written and verbal)
  • Able to work independently and handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Able to obtain Control Goods certification.

Language Requirements in QuebecKnowledge of the English language is required for this role as the position described in this posting requires the candidate to communicate every day with a virtual team outside Quebec as well as communicate with different members of the organization, clients and suppliers located outside of Canada.
