- Applies the standards set by Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) in promoting quality improvement in services and supports, embracing and applying Basic Assurances and Personal Outcome Measures (POM)
- Acts as a resource within the CRP in the promotion of Human Rights
- Plays a key role in the solicitation of feedback from people who receive supports and services, families, and all community partners
- Embraces storytelling as a powerful tool in understanding culture and establishing identity, promoting a sense of belonging and pride, connecting and inspiring. Promote people's understanding of their own stories, help find ways for people to tell, and share to foster growth
- Primary Resource to the Self Advocate Council, Family Council, and assigned St.Amant and external partners
- Grade 12 Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency required
- Degree or Diploma in a related field of study from an accredited post-secondary institution is preferred
- Certification in CPR and Emergency First Aid
- Certified with CQL as Personal Outcome Measures Interviewer (to be obtained)
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License
- Minimum of five years experience providing support to people with disabilities in a community setting
- Adept at understanding relevant human rights legislation, recognizing discrimination and restriction of rights
- Knowledgeable of the history of services to people with disabilities, and impacts of being a part of a marginalized group
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in different situations and contexts, both verbally and in writing
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Canva, virtual communication tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as a collaborative team player in a team environment
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with people we support, their support networks, and collateral agencies and partners
- Ability and willingness to give and receive honest, balanced feedback
- Values and commitment to continuous self-growth and professional learning
- Must have the emotional intelligence necessary to serve as a model regarding cooperative teamwork, conflict resolution and process improvement
- Strong person-centered focus in playing a lead role in the Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives within the organization
- Must behave with integrity, recognizing their influence on the reputation of the organization
- Responsible for the initiation, implementation, evaluation, analysis and reporting of all quality assurance and accreditation related activities within the CRP.
- Conducts Personal Outcome Measures (POM) interviews and provides recommendations based on information learned.
- Serve as a resource to the Team Leaders and Coordinators in understanding and using POM as the tool to measure and improve upon the quality of supports and services provided.
- Ensures compliance with the Basic Assurances (using the CQL Framework)
- Actively participates and promotes ongoing engagement with accreditation objectives and strategic initiatives.
- Facilitates educational opportunities for Direct Support Professionals and Leaders
- Organizes and facilitates educational opportunities for people supported by the CRP with emphasis on rights protection and promotion, supporting learning about risk, choice, restrictions, and due process.
- Supports the completion of rights restriction auditing and acts as a resource for people who receive services and their families
- Provides support and connection to the Self Advocate Council, ensuring they have space, resources, and administrative assistance to thrive as an arm's length entity
- Create opportunity for a sustainable Family Council
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Services Department at St.Amant to utilize resources as needed and when value can be added by volunteers
- Compile and contribute information for newsletters and other storytelling venues, ensuring appropriate consent is obtained for pictures and stories
- Ensures that resources are used effectively in the most efficient ways to support service and program activities.
- Recommends and drafts new or revised standards and procedures
- Participates in projects and committees as assigned
- Participates actively in regular communication forums held within the organization
- Considerable multi-tasking, attention to detail required, and pressure to meet deadlines
- Working hours can be irregular and extended due to meeting schedules and special events, including evenings and weekends
- Working collaboratively and cross-departmentally
- Must possess a reliable vehicle and be willing to drive throughout the course of employment
