We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.The Budget Office is responsible for coordinating and managing the development of SFU’s consolidated annual budget, supporting both ongoing operations and longer‑term strategic planning. It plays a central role in ensuring SFU’s financial resources are allocated responsibly in alignment with institutional priorities and long‑term sustainability.About the RoleThe Budget Analyst contributes towards the design and development of sound budgetary modelling and processes across the university. The role is responsible for monitoring and projecting financial impacts, developing reports to highlight issues and increase transparency, triaging budget support activities, and developing projections and models in order to support accurate forecasts and budgets. The role regularly accesses and analyzes highly sensitive and confidential information, including workforce costs and related personnel expenditures, establishes effective business relationships with key clients and stays current on financial issues and business changes in the portfolios.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) and five years of related experience in budgeting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting standards, sector-specific best practices, and financial modelling skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Windows) and experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Hyperion, SmartView).
  • Advanced ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and apply project/change management concepts.

The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position.
