Job Description :Type of Employment: Full time - SeasonalEstimated Start DateMiddle April/ May 1st ending in November.Job Duties:
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Plant, cultivate and irrigate crops
  • Harvest crops
  • Fertilize and spray crops
  • Detect disease and health problems in crops
  • Mixing and apply fertilizers
  • Weeding
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
  • Examine product for quality and its readiness for the market
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields and other work areas
  • Clear fields of wood and stones
  • Organize tasks to accomplish the work
  • Perform general farm duties, including but not limited to building maintenance, machine maintenance, and shop cleaning.
  • Drive farm trucks including tandem axil
  • May drive semi tractor trailer units
RequirementsEducation: No minimum education requirements.Experience:
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience is required. On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Experience operating essential farm equipment—including a combine harvester, tractor, swather, and air seeder—is mandatory for this position due to the nature of the work.
  • Driver’s license Class 5 is required
  • Driver’s license Class 1A is an asset

Important Information:
  • Flexibility on schedule is required depending on the business needs and weather.
  • The employee will be guaranteed a 30-hour workweek. During busy seasons, where extra hours beyond the 30-hour work week are required, these additional hours will be banked. In slower seasons when there will be fewer hours, these banked hours will be used to meet the 30-hour workweek requirement. At the end of their term, any remaining banked hours will be compensated
