We are WSP.The OpportunityBuild the future of Alberta's power distribution systems with WSP.Based in Airdrie, this role is part of WSP's Power Delivery - Distribution team. You'll contribute to the design of medium-voltage overhead and underground distribution systems that keep communities across Alberta connected, resilient, and energized.This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to real-world power delivery challenges, close collaboration with experienced engineers and designers, and structured coaching and mentorship to support your technical growth within the electric utility and consulting engineering environment.Your Impact
- Support power distribution projects for new services, system upgrades, and infrastructure expansions across Alberta.
- Prepare engineering calculations, designs, and construction packages for overhead and underground distribution systems.
- Coordinate with clients, project managers, and internal stakeholders to support efficient project delivery.
- Apply CSA codes, utility standards, and industry best practices to distribution designs.
- Perform quality reviews to ensure technical accuracy, constructability, and consistency.
- Use distribution design software to analyze and optimize system performance.
- Participate in site visits and construction support, contributing to safe and successful execution.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
- Diploma in Civil or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Eligible for registration, or currently registered, with ASET.
- Demonstrated interest in power distribution design, electric utilities, or consulting engineering.
- Exposure to overhead and underground distribution systems, utility standards, or CSA requirements.
- Experience with engineering design or drafting is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative, fast-paced project environment.
- French language skills are considered an asset.
