Job OverviewThe Intermediate Accountant plays a key role in supporting divisional financial operations and works closely with Regional Controllers to assist with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation of financial reports. This position supports the company’s core accounting functions by helping to establish and maintain sound accounting principles, practices, and procedures. The Intermediate Accountant is also responsible for preparing accurate financial statements and ensuring timely reporting to both internal management and external stakeholders. Responsibilities
Maintain and manage the full accounting cycle, including reconciliations, intercompany transactions, job costing, inventory, and revenue recognition.
Track and analyze budget-to-actual variances, providing insights and actionable recommendations to Senior Management.
Maintain accurate records of capital assets including timing of capitalizations, maintenance of amortization schedules and useful life calculations including annual reviews of accounting policies related to the assets, as well as ensuring additions and disposals are handled in a timely and appropriate manner.
Perform and review moderate to complex account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Prepare and review accounting records and supporting documentation.
Assist with weekly cash flow forecasts
Assist with the monthly financial close process
Assist with year-end audit by preparing required materials
Assist with preparation of monthly forecasts
Assist with preparation of monthly reporting package
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field is required.
CPA designation considered an asset
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a financial accounting role with strong knowledge of financial management practices.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment.
Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role
Strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on attention to details.
Financial analysis, budgeting and strategic planning experience
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications
Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques
Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel
Strong computer skills including MS Office and Sage 300 or equivalent ERP system
