You will contribute to the full lifecycle of municipal and provincial transportation projects, including bus rapid transit, grade separations, and complex roadway infrastructure, while working closely with multidisciplinary teams. The position combines hands-on design, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and proposal support, with strong emphasis on professional growth, mentorship, and long-term career development.Responsibilities
  • Prepare comprehensive roadway and transportation engineering designs, including road alignments, cross-sections, active transportation facilities, grading models, drainage designs, storm sewer network layouts, quantity estimates, cost estimates, project documentation, and technical specifications.

  • Assist in identifying and pursuing new project opportunities, including contributing to proposal preparation through technical content generation, schedule development, and fee estimate support.
  • Apply relevant design standards and guidelines, including TAC Geometric Design Guide and applicable provincial and municipal standards, to ensure compliant and safe roadway designs.
  • Contribute to transportation planning, traffic management, and site planning tasks as needed to support a wide range of municipal and provincial transportation projects.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in a consulting environment, providing and receiving design mentorship, and supporting a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks while actively contributing to team-based project delivery and cross-functional coordination.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in highway and/or municipal roadway design engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design, including concept development, detailed design, and preparation of construction documentation.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads Designer for roadway and corridor design.
  • Familiarity with road design practices and application of design standards, including the TAC Geometric Design Guide and various provincial and municipal standards.
  • Experience preparing contract documents and drawings for transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with freeway and interchange design as well as municipal roadway design.
  • Experience engaging and negotiating with external project stakeholders and clients.
  • Experience working with municipal and provincial clients in Ontario (e.g., MTO and regional or local municipalities).
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, and problem-solving skills applied to complex transportation design challenges.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and coordinate with multiple project participants.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines and quality expectations.
  • EIT designation, engineering training, or active pursuit of professional engineering licensure.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Engineering consulting experience, particularly in transportation and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with stormwater and drainage design, including coordination with stormwater management requirements.
  • Experience with municipal and provincial projects such as bus rapid transit, grade separations, and complex roadway infrastructure.
  • Experience in transportation planning, traffic management, and site planning to support integrated project solutions.
  • Experience working with or for municipalities and provincial agencies, including familiarity with their processes and expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to proposal development, including technical content, schedules, and fee estimates.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and client relationship building.
  • Interest in long-term professional growth, mentorship (both receiving and providing), and contributing to a collaborative, people-focused culture.
