
Head End Technician

- Troubleshoot system failures quickly and effectively; coordinate with contractors to resolve or minimize service interruptions.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment and services.
- Systematically troubleshoot various facility systems.
- Maintain working knowledge of UPS systems and associated switchgear.
- Maintain working knowledge of standby generator systems and associated switchgear.
- Maintain working knowledge of sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems testing, and building management systems.
- Collaborate with the Network Implementation team to install and activate new equipment.
- Perform monthly generator testing.
- Maintain and support the sparing process for all headend equipment.
- Conduct daily and weekly headend clean-up.
- Perform weekly power system audits.
- Participate in on-call and shift work to support evenings, weekends, and maintenance windows.
- Ensure documentation for services, equipment, and facilities is consistently updated.
- Manage a diverse workload and oversee contractor activities.
- Travel to company sites as required.
- Support and perform plant maintenance duties.
- Support Rogers for Business (R4B) platforms and solutions.
- Enforce health and safety guidelines for all internal and external visitors to the headend.
- Understand and apply common predictive and preventative maintenance techniques.
- Exercise sound judgment to resolve both routine and non-routine issues.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and follow-through on project objectives.
- Communicate effectively with a proven service-oriented attitude.
- Collaborate in a team-based environment with facilities and technology professionals.
- Willing to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess general knowledge of electrical systems and components.
- Sound understanding of IP and network architecture, including setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance (asset).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of digital voltmeters (DVMs) and other electrical/mechanical measurement tools.
- Experience using hand tools for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical blueprints and single-line diagrams.
- College diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Willingness to work overtime and support a 24/7 operational environment.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office, Visio, AutoCAD, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of digital, RF, XGSPON, and video technologies is considered a strong asset.
