Aplin has partnered with a Winnipeg-based company to hire a Junior Mechanical Engineer. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for costs, technical support, and production implementation of the standard and 'build to print' products and assemblies for the current products.Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for completing manufacturing feasibility analysis, cost analysis, and quotations for new programs on a timely basis.
  • Product customization and configuration management.
  • Outline tasks and timing on projects, and ensure projects remain on track.
  • Source new vendors and new components and/or materials applicable to the design of new products.
  • Participate in cross-functional team activities and meetings as required and assigned.
  • Maintain the integrity of the departmental quality requirements and continuous improvement activities through effective day-to-day implementation of procedures.
  • Coordinate prototyping and testing of new project products in conjunction with the customer.
  • Assist with tool and fixture design for production assembly.
  • Troubleshoot production line issues and quality issues as required.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary in Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma.
  • 1-3 years experience in manufacturing or design is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to read drawings.
  • Understanding of BOM, cost structures, and labor routings.
  • Knowledge of injection molding, wire/cable processing, crimping, machining, casting, and plating
  • Strong attention to detail is a must.
  • Awareness of AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
