With their headquarters in Europe, our client develops and tests equipment that will shape the mining industry for years to come. There are only a handful of companies pushing the limits of BEV mining technology, and their Advanced Engineering team in the Vancouver area are on the forefront of this technology. They currently have an opening for a Simulation Specialist to join their growing team. As a Simulation Specialist you will be responsible for designing, testing, and building both in simulation and on test benches the next generation of control system and algorithms for batteries and their associated subsystems. The ideal candidate will be an expert with algorithm, control system and system model development using MATLAB/Simulink with experience in the battery industry or adjacent.What you will be doing:Lead the development of control systems and algorithm development for batteries and battery thermal management systemsCreate and simulate system state diagrams and algorithmsEvaluate and test state diagram and algorithm performanceResearch and evaluate new innovative battery algorithm architectures and control techniquesDevelop and maintain battery and battery thermal management system modelsThoroughly document control strategies, modelling techniques, and algorithmsCommunicate design intent to mechanical and firmware development teamsWhat you must have:Experience with control of high voltage battery systemsExperience with filter/estimator and algorithm designKnowledge/EducationAn undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant fielExpert knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and the MathWorks ecosystemBasic understanding of battery system electrical, mechanical and thermal principlesSkills and AbilitiesStrong mathematical abilitiesTesting and characterizing battery cellsTesting and characterizing high voltage batterieWorking on and assembling high voltage batteriesData analysis skills using MATLAB or PythonUsing Speedgoat real-time targets for rapid prototyping and HIL testingSalary/Rate Range: $95,000 -$130,000Other Information:This is a full time, on-site role.Competitive benefits program, flexible schedule, company events, catered meals, and wellness programs are some of the perks of working with our client.Our client believes in pay equity, fairness and transparency, and their ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
