Grocery Buyer - South Asian & Middle Eastern :Company: Food World SupermarketLocation: Mississauga, ONPosition OverviewFood World Supermarket is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented South Asian & Middle Eastern Grocery Buyer to manage the sourcing, purchasing, and inventory of specialty grocery products. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of South Asian and Middle Eastern food products, suppliers, and consumer trends, and will play a key role in ensuring our store offers high-quality and culturally relevant products to our customers.Key Responsibilities:Product Sourcing & ProcurementIdentify and source authentic South Asian and Middle Eastern grocery products, including spices, grains, snacks, frozen foods, and specialty items.Establish and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers and distributors.Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors.Inventory ManagementMonitor product inventory levels and ensure optimal stock availability.Forecast product demand based on sales trends, seasonal demand, and customer preferences.Coordinate with the warehouse and store operations team to manage inventory flowProduct Selection & MerchandisingResearch new products and introduce items that reflect market trends and customer demand.Work with store management to ensure proper product placement and merchandising.Ensure product assortment remains competitive and culturally relevant.Vendor & Supplier ManagementEvaluate supplier performance including pricing, delivery timelines, and product quality.· Resolve supply chain issues and maintain reliable vendor partnerships.· Attend trade shows and supplier meetings when required.Pricing & ProfitabilityAnalyze product costs, margins, and pricing strategies.Ensure competitive pricing while maintaining profitability targets.Collaborate with management on promotional strategies and sales initiatives.Qualifications:Previous experience in grocery buying, procurement, or retail purchasing preferred.Strong knowledge of South Asian and Middle Eastern grocery products and brands.Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.Strong analytical and inventory management abilities.Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.Strong communication and organizational skills.Preferred Skills:Experience working in ethnic grocery stores or international food distribution.Knowledge of imported food products and international suppliers.Understanding of consumer trends within South Asian and Middle Eastern communities.Why Join Food World Supermarket:Opportunity to work with a growing multicultural grocery retailer.Play a key role in expanding and curating culturally authentic product selections.Work in a dynamic retail environment serving diverse communities.
