- Prepare and define Technical Requirement Documents (TRDs) and Engineering Technical Assessments (ETAs)
- Evaluate vendor technical proposals and internal Program Change Requests (PCRs)
- Prepare and support Design Change Proposals (DCPs)
- Review and approve vendor requirement specifications, engineering drawings, modification summary packages, and vendor Qualification Test Reports
- Support aircraft and system test programs, including:
- Writing Test Definition Sheets
- Equipment integration support
- Aircraft test witnessing
- Test report development and review
- Prepare technical compliance reports demonstrating conformity with applicable certification and airworthiness requirements
- Ensure aircraft mechanical systems airworthiness is maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Manage mechanical systems suppliers through:
- Technical coordination meetings
- Engineering Coordination Memos (ECMs)
- Support aircraft production with:
- Hydraulic, landing gear, and mechanical systems troubleshooting
- Snag resolution and shop‑floor technical support
- Support in‑service aircraft, including:
- Engineering modification packages based on customer change requests
- Service Bulletin development
- Investigation and resolution of Service Difficulty Reports (SDRs)
- Provide technical supervision, coordination, and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario or Alberta, or eligibility for registration
- Minimum 10 years of relevant aviation mechanical systems engineering experience
- Demonstrated expertise in hydraulic systems, landing gear systems, and/or aircraft mechanical systems
- Extensive experience in system design, testing, and certification related to:
- Hydraulic systems
- Landing gear systems
- Aircraft mechanical systems
- Strong knowledge of civil airworthiness regulations (FAR Part 25) and associated advisory material, including RTCA and ARP documentation, applicable to TCCA, EASA, and FAA certification
- Experience working with TCCA, EASA, or FAA; DAD/DAR eligibility is considered an asset
- Strong system integration and multidisciplinary coordination skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, and planning abilities
- Ability to prioritize effectively and deliver against demanding program milestones
- Fluent in English (written and verbal)
- Strong customer focus, resilience, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Knowledge of De Havilland aircraft, including the CL‑215 and CL‑415 water bomber platforms, is a strong asset
- Familiarity with established aerospace engineering and business processes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
- Willingness to travel to flight test sites, supplier facilities, or operator locations as required
