- Work closely with RJC’s Project Engineers within the project team environment, through entirety of the project life cycle
- Complete on-site generalist-level visual assessments and investigation of building systems such as roofing, building enclosure, below grade, structural, architectural and/or mechanical/electrical.
- Prepare an inventory of materials, components and equipment forming basic building systems, including collecting relevant information, such as Make, Model, Serial Number, etc. as directed by the Project Engineer.
- Identify and document deficiencies in the various building systems by means of visual review.
- Review documentation to understand past maintenance activities and known building deficiencies.
- Compile technical reports utilizing proprietary software as well as Microsoft Word and Excel based templates.
- Assist with various project types including Depreciation Reports, Building Condition Assessments, Capital Planning reports, and Warranty Reviews.
- Graduate of relevant College or University-Level Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Civil/Structural or Building Science related Program(s)
- Registered (or eligible for registration) as an EIT with EGBC or an AScT Designation with ASTTBC.
- Entry-level position – 1-3 Years relevant work experience preferred
- Experience in a consulting firm environment is an asset
- Comfortable working at heights, including climbing ladders and accessing rooftops
- Licensed to drive in BC with access to insured vehicle for travel to project sites is required (work related mileage is reimbursed);
- Demonstrated and effective communication skills in English – both written and verbal
- Team player with ability to work independently
- Effective, responsive communication (verbally and written) with the Project Team and Clients
- Knowledge of building components including the ability to describe and provide replacement costing
- Knowledge of Facility Condition Assessment Methodology and ASTM Uniformat II Classification System
- Fast learner with a desire to grow professionally and personally
