Our client, a long-standing, family-run business in Little Italy since 1945, is known for its extensive product selection, hands-on ownership, and stable work environment—and is now expanding its accounting team due to recent growth.We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Analyst for a temporary 4–5 month contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our finance team with budgeting, variance analysis, reconciliation, and financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work with financial templates, and the confidence to provide insights and recommendations that support decision-making and drive the organization forward.Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the preparation, consolidation, and review of budgets.
  • Conduct variance analysis by comparing actual results against budget/forecast, providing clear explanations and insights.
  • Input and structure financial data into standardized templates for review and reporting.
  • Prepare detailed variance reports and support financial reviews with management.
  • Assist with financial reconciliations and ensure accuracy in reporting and balances.
  • Provide recommendations and analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Support the finance team with ad hoc analysis, reporting, and projects as required.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, with a CPA designation or progression toward certification considered an asset. They should bring at least three years of relevant experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and accuracy. Proficiency with financial systems and advanced MS Excel skills are required, and experience with Sage300 would be an advantage. The ability to interpret financial results and communicate findings clearly to non-financial stakeholders is essential, along with strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. We are looking for someone who demonstrates initiative, accountability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.What will make you stand out:

  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to build and manage financial templates and models efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills to present financial results and recommendations clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities, work independently, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with reconciliations and ensuring financial accuracy
