
Veterinary Assistant - Rehabilitation

- Assist with patient care and treatment
- Restrain and/or keep animals distracted during procedures and therapies
- This could include: distracting with treats/pets, manual restraint (when necessary), etc.
- Assist with consultations
- Client Services (answering phones, booking appointments, record keeping, invoicing, client communication and education, etc.)
- Communicating to clients and Rehab Technicians patient status, session updates, etc.
- Maintaining equipment (underwater treadmill, exercise equipment, laser devices, etc.)
- Maintaining water chemistries, perform water changes, clean filters, etc.
- General cleaning of Department and any kennels used
- Assisting with orthopedic patients (patient care, discharges, etc.)
- Towel dry patients after hydrotherapy
- Self-starter, motivated, able to multitask, team player
- Enjoys caring for animals
- Able to handle and safely restrain stressed/painful animals in a Fear Free manner
- At least 1 + year experience working in a veterinary facility
- Familiar with general veterinary terminology
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job:
- Ability to lift 40lbs independently
- Walking/standing for extended periods of time
- Leash walking dogs of various sizes and levels of training
- Be able to sit/kneel on the ground for extended periods of time with the patients
- Solid communication skills with clients and fellow employees in person and in writing
- Experience with Cornerstone is considered an asset
- Able to remain focused and calm while working in a fast-paced environment
- Good understanding of canine and feline body language
