Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.To learn more about CIBC, please visitWhat You'll Be DoingAs the Consultant, Data Risk and Reporting, you will play a pivotal role in building strong relationships within the Chief Data Office and across Strategic Business Units and Functional Groups, contributing to the expansion and evolution of enterprise data risk reporting and insights. You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of data risk metrics, including their development, implementation, reporting, and ongoing management. This encompasses assisting in defining calculation details, understanding the intent and rationale for metric inclusion, supporting threshold identification, and ensuring effective visual presentation for reporting. You will lead the automation of metrics using tools such as Power BI and Power Automate, oversee Business As Usual (BAU) reporting to key audiences—including Executive Data Governance Councils and the CIBC Board—and trigger oversight processes in response to metric breaches or exceptions. In addition, you will conduct periodic reviews to ensure metrics remain relevant and aligned with evolving business and regulatory requirements.Your role will also involve supporting the definition and creation of metrics that provide enterprise-level insights, including establishing aggregate calculation methods and contributing to the introduction and creation of new data as needed across Business Units. You will be responsible for collecting this information and visually representing results for executive audiences. Collaboration with stakeholders across Business Units and within the Chief Data Office will be essential to support the development, automation, and ongoing management of metrics and reporting solutions. The successful candidate will bring a foundational background in mathematics and/or statistics, along with experience in metrics creation, development, implementation, and reporting, including generating actionable insights for leadership.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.***Please Note: This is a 12 month secondment***How You’ll SucceedQuantitative Analysis: You possess a solid understanding of mathematical and statistical concepts, enabling you to assist in identifying new metrics and supporting the definition of calculations.Metrics Development & Implementation: You have the ability to interpret complex information and assist in identifying patterns and trends in alignment with Data Governance and Data Management practices. You support the development and technical implementation of metrics – including building, automating, and visualizing metrics using tools such as Power BI, Power Automate and other ETL or visualization platforms – to communicate the data risk landscape across the enterprise.Metric Reporting & Management: You contribute to the ongoing reporting of metrics and insights to various audiences, including executive stakeholders. You support the timely escalation and oversight process when metric thresholds are breached, ensuring transparency and accountability. You participate in the periodic review and refinement of metrics and their thresholds, ensuring ongoing relevance and alignment with business needs and regulatory requirementsEffective Communication: You demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to present information clearly, secure stakeholder support, and facilitate the adoption and ongoing management of metrics.Business Acumen: You possess a basic understanding of Data Governance, Data Management, and Data Risk Management practices, allowing you to contribute to assessments of business situations across various units and their impact on Metrics development, implementation, and management.Relationship Management: You build relationships within the Data Community across CIBC, engaging with Line of Business Data role holders and their teams to facilitate understanding, collaboration, and adoption of metrics and reporting solutions.Who You AreExperienced Data Analyst: You have a solid understanding of Data Analysis methodologies and principles, with a track record of contributing to impactful outcomes in data-related projects.Proficient in Data Tools: With several years of experience, you are skilled in tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau and Power Automate. You can develop, automate, and visualize metrics, extract insights, interpret complex information, and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.Metrics Developer: You have experience in identifying necessary data elements, supporting the development and technical implementation of metrics, and managing their ongoing relevance and effectiveness. You understand the importance of creating, collecting and periodically reviewing data to inform decision-making and maintain the integrity of KPIs and KRIs.Analytical Thinker: You possess strong analytical skills and enjoy investigating complex problems.
