Description :ROLE OVERVIEW:Reporting to the AVP, Commercial Credit Solutions – Large Business & Syndications, the Senior Commercial Credit Adjudicator is responsible for the adjudication of complex commercial credit applications, with a specialized focus on large business lending and syndicated deals. This role provides high-level credit analysis, ensures policy compliance, and supports ACU’s risk and growth objectives. As a senior team member, the adjudicator serves as a resource to colleagues, contributing to high-quality decisions, process improvement, and consistent risk practices. This role also supports Assiniboine Credit Union/ Caisse Assiniboine (ACU)’s commitment to rural and agricultural communities, francophone services, values-based banking and ACU’s triple bottom line accountability to people, planet, and prosperity.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Analyze and adjudicate complex commercial credit requests including syndication opportunities within delegated authority, ensuring alignment with ACU's credit policies and risk appetite.
  • Review financial statements, assess borrower risk, and ensure appropriate structuring to support sound lending.
  • Prepare sound credit recommendations and escalate cases as required, providing rationale and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Apply deep financial analysis and due diligence to ensure well-informed, values-aligned decisions.
  • Communicate credit decisions to internal partners within established service standards.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to front-line teams and junior adjudicators on structuring, analysis, and quality submissions.
  • Engage in open, constructive dialogue to improve credit presentations and outcomes.
  • Monitor and support management of large and syndicated exposures within the commercial loan portfolio.
  • Identify emerging risks, policy exceptions, or trends and escalate to the AVP with recommendations.
  • Contribute to regular reporting and internal risk management reviews.
  • Ensure adjudication practices comply with internal policy, regulatory expectations, and audit requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to credit policies, procedures, and tools to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Support accurate and timely completion of Commercial Credit Solutions reporting requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and informal mentorship to adjudicators and underwriters.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Credit Solutions and Business Advisory to ensure cohesive and member-focused lending outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in commercial lending or credit adjudication, with a strong focus on large and complex commercial credits or syndicated deals.
Key Occupational Skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in commercial credit analysis and adjudication.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial statement analysis, commercial lending principles, and risk frameworks.
  • Experience managing or supporting syndicated lending.
  • Strong knowledge of credit policy, regulatory frameworks, and internal control expectations.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across internal teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to produce clear, professional documentation.
