
Senior Development Accountant

- Oversee full-cycle project accounting for a portfolio of development projects
- Maintain project budgets, forecasts, committed costs, and actuals in the accounting system
- Collaborate with project teams across development, construction, and operations
- Review and code invoices, track approvals, and ensure timely payments
- Prepare financial reports and draw packages for internal stakeholders and external partners
- Analyze project performance and prepare month-end reports, variance analysis, and cost updates
- Track project cash flow needs and coordinate with finance for funding schedules
- Manage profit reporting on individual units or asset components where applicable
- Ensure all contract changes and commitments are accurately reflected in cost tracking
- Coordinate with operational accounting during project transitions
- Contribute to improving processes, policies, and internal controls for project reporting
- Support audits and internal requests for project-related financial information
- Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed
- Maintain accuracy and consistency in project data and financial documentation
- CPA designation or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5+ years of experience in project accounting, ideally within development or construction
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting and project financial tracking
- Proficient with Excel; experience with industry-specific accounting software an asset
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented
- $95,000 - $115,000 Base
