Job DescriptionOur client is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in Calgary to support our substation engineering department. Our client is an engineering consulting firm with offices in Calgary and Regina that provides design and engineering services to the electric power delivery industry. Their expertise includes all aspects of Transmission, Substation and Distribution systems for voltages ranging from 4160V to 500kV.The civil substation engineer will oversee the geotechnical, civil and structural engineering and design for substation foundation and structure projects. The candidate will need to have a bachelors in Civil Engineer and be register with APEGGA (have their P.Eng). The ideal candidate will also need to have past experience overseeing/mentoring others or be willing to do that. The Civil Engineer will be supporting a large battery project in Ontario for their first project.Essential Skills:
  • 15+ years of civil engineering experience
  • Past experience with the geotechnical, civil and structural design of pads and layouts of substations OR well pad foundations
  • Civil Engineering degree
  • Civil 3D exp. (software)/ Civil Design exp. in general
  • P.Eng to stamp
  • Familiarity with geotechnical design/assessment (needs to understand this in order to prep sites for the civil foundation design)
  • Foundations design experience
  • Ideal candidate will have followed a civil scope from the geotechnical design side to structural design and understands how all three scopes fit together
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 2-4 Years of Transmission/Distribution industry exp.
  • Structural engineering exp. ideally with steel structures
